Yuri Hoshiwara

Hoshiwara, Yuri
Yuri Hoshiwara passed peacefully into the Lord's arms on Monday, January 20, 2014 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born in Seattle, WA on March 29, 1920 to Senzo and Hisae Yasaki. The youngest of four children, Yuri was predeceased by siblings, Fumi Yamasaki, Chie Yasaki and Tats Yasaki. She graduated from the University of Washington with a major in microbiology, however, during World War II, Yuri's studies were interrupted when she was relocated with fellow Japanese Americans to the Minidoka Relocation Center in rural Idaho. Later after returning to the University of Washington and obtaining a laboratory job, Yuri met her future husband, Isao "Hosh" Hoshiwara. After they married, Yuri worked to help support Hosh through medical school. Their family grew with the addition of three children: David (Jane), Joy (Gary) Boydston and Steve (Sharon), eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. The love of Yuri's life was the Lord Jesus Christ. She loved and studied His Word until she was joyfully called into His presence on January 20, 2014. A memorial service will be this Sunday, January 26th at 2:00 pm
Hope Covenant Church, 1770 S. Dobson Road, Chandler, AZ 85286. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to JoniandFriends.org
