Dorothy Clausen Obituary

Dorothy Maxine Clausen, born in Kansas City, MO on December 30, 1919 passed away August 12, 2007. Dorothy Maxine obtained her degree from the University of Kansas and from classroom music teacher progressed into a way of life in entertainment and love of music. She created original musicals for her students, traveled to operas, began youth orchestras and jazz bands. Hundreds of her former students owe their introduction and appreciation of music to her. Through her multiple talents, she gave us Story Telling, Maxie the Clown, Mazie Corntassle the comedy singer and a host of roles in community theaters. Dorothy moved from the Kansas City area (Shawnee, Kansas) to Gilbert in 1996 to be with her daughter, Elizabeth and granddaughter, Ariel. New surroundings made for new friends and the Gilbert Senior Center became an outlet for her talents. She helped create music programs, performed regularly in Senior Talent Shows and directed her Sunshine Kitchen Band. She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Cress-Sweet of Gilbert and Dr. Cherry Romano of Waukegan, Illinois. Her multi talents have been passed on to her four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Falconer Funeral Home, 251 W. Juniper Ave. Gilbert, AZ.
