Eugene Vorhies Obituary

Vorhies, Eugene "Gene" Jr.
Eugene "Gene" Vorhies, Jr. was born in New York, NY on June 29, 1939 and died February 14, 2013 here in Arizona, after his three year journey with pancreatic cancer. He approached this dreaded disease with uncommon grace and courage. Educated at the Chaminade High School on Long Island, the MIT, and The Wharton School of Business, he had two distinct careers. In the first one he served as a management consultant to nonprofit organizations and the Federal Government. The second one involved working for a major hospital corporation, from which he retired as a regional administrator. Both careers were interesting and challenging and required a great amount of both domestic and foreign travel. He was very fortunate to enjoy a long and satisfying retirement, living life to the fullest. This extraordinary man will be deeply missed by his loving family, wife Aila, son David the two grandchildren, Kai and Anneli, family and friends in Finland, and a legion of devoted friends both here and overseas. The family thanks the staff at Hospice of the
Valley, Palm Valley location, for their dedicated, loving care. Condolences can be sent to www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com. Arrangements by Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear.
