Juliana "Juli" Corinne Tarver Obituary
Tarver, Juliana "Juli" Corinne
66, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on July 20, 2013. She was born February 1, 1947 in East Lansing, Michigan to Dr. Warner "Van" and Jean Van Aken. Her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1959, where her father, a veterinarian, ran Van Aken Pet Hospital. Juli attended Central High School, graduating in 1965. She then attended Arizona State University, where she studied nursing and became a sister in the ADPi Sorority. While there, she met the love of her life, Michael "Mike" Tarver. They married in January of 1968, and later that year moved to Biloxi, Mississipi where Mike began his service with the US Air Force. They returned to Phoenix in 1972, and have called it home ever since. Juli served as Chief Encourager to her husband, a small business owner in Scottsdale, AZ, to her two daughters, Kristin and Lindy, her two sons-in-law, three grandchildren, and many, many family members and friends. An expert baker, she gave free pie lessons to countless women and men in the Valley, and was known for her famous fudge. Juli also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Payson, AZ. She cared deeply about her country and was a true patriot. Her life was characterized by her strong faith in God and her innate desire to shower love on others. She was a friend to all, and was the picture of generosity. She had a radiant glow that was infectious to all. Juli will be missed deeply and loved always by her husband, Mike Tarver of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Kristin (Craig) Tarver Reilly of Scottsdale, AZ, and Lindy (Adam) Roberts of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Sylvianne Reilly, Ian and Kasey Roberts; three siblings, Bruce (Suzette) Van Aken of Kent, WA, Christie Van Aken of Jacksonville, OR, and Ed Van Aken of Portland, OR, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. "Juli," "Mom," "Nana," thank you for the life you lived and the love you showed. We love you, miss you, and will pass on your memory for generations to come.
