To all who loved and were graced with Peter in your lives - - my heart goes out to you. I keep looking at his photo on my desktop, and I just keep wishing this is fiction not truth! Without a doubt I know Peter has gone too soon!
When I first met Peter he was dating a friend of mine - - a fellow flight attendant. Peter whom I called “PB” never failed to make me laugh - - in fact, just the sight of him approaching was enough to bring a smile and delight to my day. I knew the world was a kinder and gentler place
by the laughter “PB” bestowed on others with his off beat sense of humor and his prankster ways.
Many years ago, “PB” and I were flying a trip together from Minneapolis to San Diego. Along the way, we made several stops in small towns: Billings, Helena, Butte, Idaho Falls, Pocatello to name a few. “PB” had read about “POP ROCKS”, a new candy that fizzled crackled and pop in your mouth, and the candy was being test marketed in small towns. So, at each stop “PB” checked the terminal's gift shop for “POP ROCKS”. At last, Eureka his quest was over - - once back on the plane “Pop Rocks” in hand “PB” asked me to go to the back galley with him where he disclosed his own test market plan. “Let's put some “POP ROCKS” in our mouths then kiss . . . “ pop, fizzle, kiss and, of course, then our genuine amusement and laughter as if we were 16 again!
“PB” wherever your spirit has wandered - - I hope you find “POP ROCKS” and other novelties along the way - - thanks for the memories. You're in my heart - - so never far away.

I knew Peter when based with him in SFO in 1969. Had lots of fun tearing around in his little sports car and singing along while he played his mean wash tub bass. Have thought of him often and my best wishes go out to his extended family. He will be missed by many. Thanks for this opportunity.

It was always a delight to fly with Peter. He was always great to the Flight Attendants. He started with Western the same year I did and was one of the first pilots I met. Very wonderful guy!

Peter and I were roommates beginning in 1965 during our Navy tour at Moffett Field, CA flying the P-3 Orion. I married his cousin after she had come to visit us and got to know his Arizona family. We joined Western Airlines together in the same class in 1969 and again shared an apartment. One could not have hoped for a more loyal friend, or one with a more bizarre and outrageous sense of humor. We spent years together enjoying life as young Navy and Western pilots. Life was never boring with Peter and he will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to Don, Penny, Wade, Stephanie and the rest of his loving family.

He was a good man.
I remember his sense of humour with the placard at his house that said, "The Buck Stops Here".

Pete and I were NAVCAD's together in the early 60's. We wound up joining Western about the same time. Pete is one of those nice guys you just like. He was always cheerful, helpful and fun to be with. Sorry to see him go.
Godspeed Pete.

I was a new captain, on the multiple stop across the west from San Diego to Minneapolis I became ill with diarrhea and vomiting. Peter wanted to abort the mission, but by then we were in Wyoming. I told Peter that replacing me would take hours out here. I was very confident in Peter's ability to take over the flight. He would wake me up to taxi out and take off, and to land and taxi in. I could tell by the third stop he was feeling pretty good about himself. We made it all the way to Minneapolis with out a hitch. We became good friends. Sailed on San Francisco bay in his trawler. He was a lovely man. This hurts.

You will be greatly missed Peter, with your wonderful sense of humor and your being a true friend and classmate at Western Airlines in January of 1969.
