1916 - 2015, Alice Kelman (nee' Friedman), lover of family and travel, was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1916 and died at home in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 98 on September 7, 2015. After graduating from Cleveland's Glenville High School she worked in retail. She was married to Jack Kelman for 51 years until his death in 1990. For many years they traveled the world with friends and family. They had three children: Elliot, Rickey and Deborah who were the center of her life. A renowned giver, she volunteered at Cleveland's Mount Sinai Hospital as well as for whatever activities in which her children became involved, whether it was Scout Master of Rickey's cub scout troop or head of the decorating committee for daughter Deborah's debutante ball. She was predeceased by Elliot, her eldest child. Famous for her cooking, undeniably her pie'ce de re'sistance was her unforgettable blueberry pies; she often hosted memorable large dinner parties. In addition to her children Alice is survived by her sister Caroline, three grandchildren: Seth, Talor and Kalie Kelman, her son-in-law David Bean and daughters-in-law Wendy and Cheryl Kelman as well as by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was truly the Matriarch of her extended family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Phoenix Valley Hospice Center.
