Carter, Alyn Day
80, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on September 12, 2015. Alyn was born in Marion, Indiana. He worked for the Erie Railroad before enlisting in the US Army. Alyn served in the US Army from 1957-1963. During this time he worked for the City of Phoenix Police Department from 1961-1994. Before Alyn joined the Phoenix Police Department, he married his wife Hazel in 1960. Alyn later re-enlisted in US Army Reserve and served from 1974-1994. He also was a member of the Scottsdale Masonic Lodge #43 from 1974-2015. Alyn is survived by his two children: Ethan and Elizabeth, his three grandchildren: Matthew, Anna, and Rachel, and his two great grandchildren: Douglas and Madison. Alyn is also survived by his brother: Reinald and his sister: MaraJane. AIyn was preceded in death by his father: Myron W. and his mother: Garnet Opal. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Hazel. Memorial services wiII be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024 at 9:30a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015. Immediately following the memorial service, Alyn will be interned with his wife in their columbarium at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #2, Police Law Enforcement Association, Scottsdale Masonic Lodge #43, or Reflections Hospice & Palliative Care.
