Kuberra, Arthur "Art"
Art Kuberra passed away on November 24th at the age of 96. Like most young men of the Greatest Generation, Art enlisted in the military sand served in the European Theatre during WWII, rising to the rank of Major in the US Air Force. A pilot, and attached to the 53rd Troop Carrier Wing of the 8th Air Force, Art participated in the first long-distance dual glider tow in history and served as Assistant to the Operation Officer of the Wing during both the Normandy and Southern France airborne landings. Upon returning to his native Wisconsin, Art was a successful small businessman, owning and operating Art's Shoe Service for 25 years while raising his family in his home town of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Later, Art became a Deputy Sherriff for Eau Claire County, served as the county's Director of Emergency Government, and Commander of the Air Force Reserve Unit in Eau Claire. Art and is wife moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1975 for a well-earned retirement. Art's wife, the former Jayne Roberts, preceded him in passing. Survivors include two sons, a daughter, seven grand-children and numerous great-grand-children. A 10 am Funeral Mass will be Held in Art's honor at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 Del Webb Blvd. Sun City, AZ 85351 on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. A 12:30 pm Committal Service will follow at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85024.
