Barbara May Kosloff Obituary
Kosloff, Barbara May
born September 25, 1921 and passed away on August 16, 2016. Barbara was the daughter of Wesley and Vera Keller, and the older sister of Donald. She was born in Great Bend, New York, and graduated from Carthage High School. Barbara was a young artist when she met and married Captain James M. Kosloff during WWII. They moved to Chicago after the war, and then moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, with their two children, Janet and Mark. Though Barbara's paintings, drawings, and crafts drew attention on Fifth Avenue, she preferred to simply give her art to family and friends. Those who received her exquisite Christmas Skirts and wall hangings still rave about them. As an avid reader and movie-goer, Barbara became one of Professor Nick Salerno's special guest-critics throughout the popular Critic's Choice series of independent and foreign films at Scottsdale's Camelview Theater. She was also a skilled proofreader who edited countless screen-plays, stage plays, novels, biographies and articles. Barbara became a proud grandmother upon the birth of Janet's daughter, Julie Anne Soja, in 1972. She then became a giddy great-grandmother upon the birth of Julie's son, Samuel
Noah Swick, in 2008, and Julie's daughter, Amelia Isabel Zotia Swick, in 2011. Barbara is survived by Janet and Gary Gardner; by Mark Kosloff, and by Julie, Ross, Sam and Amy Swick. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Mortuary.
