Ewan, Betty Mae "Carel"
May 24, 1934-Sept 7, 2016. Carel passed away peacefully after a long battle with lung cancer on Sept. 7, 2016. She was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and moved to Vancouver, B.C. as a little girl. She met the love of her life, Reg Ewan, in high school. They married in 1952, started a family, and moved to California. As a longtime resident of Fremont, CA, Carel was very active as an Elks Auxiliary member. She also volunteered many hours at the Oakland VA Hospital visiting with our wounded soldiers. Her favorite past times were crafting, sewing, bingo, and dancing, but at the top of her list was entertaining family and friends. She loved large family gatherings and a good party. After her and Reg retired, they traveled and moved around until settling in Apache Junction AZ in 2003. Carel is survived by her loving husband of 64 1/2 years, Reg Ewan. She is preceded in death by her two sons Alan Ewan and Ken Ewan. She is also survived by her children, Lynda Linn of Mesa AZ; Janette (Tom) Dutcher of San Diego CA; Dean (Shelley) Ewan of Salida CA; sister, Sharon Monro of Canada; brother, Doug Monro of Canada, brother in law John (Violet) Ewan of Fremont CA; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends that loved her dearly. A celebration of life will be held on November 12, 2016 at 1:00pm at 11100 E. Apache Trail, Apache Junction AZ 85120. Coffee and desserts will follow with a time for sharing cherished stories of Carel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to: , East Clinical Office, 2020 E.
