Billy Ayers Sumrall Obituary
Sumrall, Billy Ayers
81, of Chandler, AZ, passed away March 12, 2013. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on Sept. 25, 1931 to Ben Harrison and LaVania (Barron) Sumrall. He served in two military branches, the Army and the Navy, and later worked for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 32 years. He married Lois Elaine McCoy, and together they had four sons: Doug (Barbara) of Stillwater, OK, Dan (Sherrill) of Chandler, AZ, Don (Josie) of Gilbert, AZ, and David (Rosie) also of Gilbert. Billy was always helping his boys, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends at the Baptist Church. He was a man of few words, but had a heart as big as a mountain. He loved cattle, horses, chickens, and dogs. He was a faithful volunteer in 4H and at the Spring Creek Church Camp. During his lifetime, Billy developed useful skills in ranching, butchering, building, repairing and coaching, skills he used to the great benefit of family and friends throughout his life. Known as Billy, Bill, Dad, Pa, and Gramps, his passing leaves a huge void in his family, but we know he is with the love of his life, Lois, who passed away on Sept. 12, 2012. A visitation for Billy is planned for Sun., Mar. 17, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr., Chandler. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Mon., Mar 18, at the McQueen Road Baptist Church, 24211 S. McQueen Rd., Chandler. Interment with military honors will be at 1:00 pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
