Rodriguez, Bonnie
Hortense (Bonnie) Lugibihl Rodriguez Gonzalez was the youngest of 7 children born to Myron and Lillian Lugibihl. Bonnie, born Dec. 9, 1928 in Santa Fe, NM, passed away peacefully June 6, 2016 in Ahwatukee. Bonnie finished high school in Santa Fe. She attended NM State, Arizona State and eventually graduated from Utah State University in 1955. She taught school in both Arizona and New Mexico, including the Zuni reservation. Later, Bonnie worked as a social worker for the State of Arizona. In the late 1950's while on vacation and studying in Mexico City she met and fell in love with a young fellow by the name of Alfonso Rodriquez. They were happily married for 53 years, living principally in Phoenix. Al was a professional engineer and an active member of the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix. Bonnie and Al were always side by side. They traveled with the Orpheus through Europe, Mexico, Australia, and across the United States. She and Al had a second, dearly loved, home in Mazatlan, Mexico. Bonnie's other constant companion, through life, was her sister Tari. They were inseparable, child hood and adult best friends. They accompanied each other through college and early teaching experiences. After Al's untimely passing in 2013 Bonnie and Tari resided close together in Ahwatukee, always constant companions. Al and Tari were the loves of her life. She had many talents, among which was a flair for baking. She, her Mother Lillian, and Tari were frequent entered Arizona State Fair competitions for handicrafts, art and baking. She is survived by her sister Tari Lugibihl Evans; her nephews Ted (Marti) Sahd, Randolph (Diane) Sahd, John (Terry) LeDuc, Steven (Mary Ann) LeDuc, Jeff Burbank, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Bonnie, remained close to her sister-in-law, Rebecca, brother-in-law, Ruben and, Marisol Figueroa, who was like a daughter to her. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 at 9:00am at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 E Southern Ave, Phoenix, 85042.
