Irvine, Bonnie Ruth Martin
Bonnie Ruth Martin Irvine, 91, passed away on July 14, 2016. She was born March 30, 1925 in Bradshaw, Texas to Sarah Melvina and William Sharpe Martin. She was the seventh of thirteen children. Her family moved to Buckeye in 1929. Bonnie always said that her brothers and sisters were her best friends and she remained close to her siblings and their families throughout her life, celebrating Easter each year with her extended family in Buckeye and spending summers in Forest Lakes. During World War II, she served as a secretary to the base commander at Luke Air Force Base where she met D. Bruce Irvine. After whirlwind courtship of just 36 hours, they married in Tempe, Arizona. They had 67 years of family fun. She was a talented seamstress and creative in every kind of endeavor from upholstery to cake decorating to square dancing and helping Bruce build their mountain retreat. She is survived by her sister Glenna Kieffer and brothers Dean and Bobby Martin and her three children, Randy (Deirdre), David, and Dianne; five grandchildren, Sarah (Stephen) Belson, Bonnie (Michael) McNamara, Zachary (Michele) Irvine, Annie (Gilbert) Morales and Mandy (Shane) Elsberry; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her family is very grateful to her granddaughter Annie and her family who lovingly cared for her the last six years. Memorial services will be held at Liberty United Methodist Church in Liberty, AZ on Thursday, July 21, at 10:00 am with funeral service following at Louis B Hazelton Memorial Cemetery in Buckeye.
