Bruce Corey Obituary
Corey, Bruce
The most beloved, loving, gentle and kind man, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Friday, September 2. Bruce Corey was born October 31, 1926, in Austin, MN to H.H. (Tim) Corey and Constance Lyford Corey. Bruce and Betty Lou Lageson married on August 16, 1948, and shared 68 years of loving each other deeply. Their greatest joy together was in raising a loving family. Bruce attended the University of Minnesota and played football for the Golden Gophers. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he and Betty attended the Thunderbird School in Phoenix. They returned to Austin where Bruce spent his entire career with the Hormel Company until his retirement as Vice President of Research and Development in 1981. Since then Bruce and Betty had split their time between their home in Scottsdale, AZ, and their home on Lake Sylvan near Brainerd, MN. They explored the world doing what they loved best: cruising. Bruce volunteered at the HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Betty; children: Cynthia and Michael Jorgenson, Steven Corey and Chelle Nelson, and Kim Corey; grandchildren: Jodi Jorgenson, Kellie Jorgenson, Timothy Edstrom, and Emily Edstrom; great-grandchildren: Ethan Jorgenson, Jake Roth, and Vince Roth. The family celebrated Bruce's life in a private gathering. Memorials are suggested to the HonorHealth Foundation, 8125 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85258.
