Moring, Carla June Porterfield
74, of Wilsonville, OR passed away on July 9, 2015. Born in Sacramento, CA, on June 19, 1941 to Donna Blake and Crawford Porterfield, who preceded her in death. Carla attended Hollywood Park Elementary, Joaquin Miller, and California Junior Highs. She graduated from Sacramento's McClatchy HS in 1959 and benefited from a group of lifelong friends. Carla earned a B.A. in History from the University of Oregon, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She earned her teaching credential from UC Berkeley, where she met and married William Moring. Soon after their marriage in 1965, Bill deployed to South Vietnam as a USMC Aviation Officer. Together with daughter, Macy, and son, Keith, the family settled in Newhall, California in the early 1970's. Carla taught at W.S. Hart High School. The family was passionately involved in soccer. Carla was also active in the Junior League of Los Angeles and became a member of the 1984 Olympic Organizing Committee. Carla and Bill moved to Scottsdale, Arizona during the early 1990's. Carla taught and was a college counselor at Judson High School and then co-founded the French/American International School of Arizona in Scottsdale. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Carla had a beautiful mind and spirit, was gifted in history and English and was guided by a solid Faith. She invested in her students and was a loyal friend to many. After 47 years of marriage, Bill died suddenly in 2012. Carla was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to Amy, Kyle, Douglas and Ryan Moring, and Eleanor and Ian Crane. In addition, she leaves her brother Reynold Porterfield of Wilton, CA. and her children, Macy (Tom) Crane of Morgan Hill, CA and Keith (Susan) Moring of Lake Oswego, OR. A celebration of Carla and Bill's lives will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Windmiller Ranch, 9951 Grant Line Road, Elk Grove, CA.
