Cathy Jeannine "CJ" Harding Obituary
Harding (Koerner), Cathy "CJ" Jeannine
Cathy was born on May 14, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 27, 2016, due to complications from liver failure. During her life, she touched many lives with her kindness, humor and compassion, and will be dearly missed. Cathy worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years, in the process acquiring an encyclopedic knowledge of illnesses and their treatments. She also turned her love of animals into a lifelong calling. As a young woman she worked with chimpanzees at the Yerkes Primate Center at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Later, after moving to Arizona, she worked with a number of exotic African cats at the Out of Africa Wildlife Park. In addition, she personally rescued and cared for dozens of animals throughout her life. Cathy made friends wherever she went, having the uncanny ability to instantly form a connection with people she had just met. Her absence has left a void in the hearts of her loved ones, but she'll forever live on in their memories as a wonderful mother, a wise teacher, a defender of animals, and a compassionate source of strength. She leaves behind three children, Stephen (Angelica), Michael, and Sara (Scott); two grandchildren, Elliott and Nathaniel; and her former husband, Bob. Private services will be held to celebrate her journey through life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local humane society in her name.
