Sorensen, Charles Allen
Charlie Sorensen, 87, of Phoenix, AZ, died April 6, 2016, after battling Parkinson's for 13 years. He is survived by his wife, Erica (Rickie), of 65 years and 3 children: Eric (Karen), Kristin, and Jens (Patty), 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (Madison) School of Business where he lettered in track and cross country. He attained an MBA at Sienna College in Loudonville, NY. He was a professor of accounting at several colleges in Maricopa County. He practiced as a CPA in Arizona for many years. He served as an officer in the US Army Military Police Corps during the Korean War. His favorite hobbies were stamp collecting, crossword puzzles, rooting for the Chicago Cubs and the Wisconsin Badgers, and reading history and mysteries. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 23, at Shepherd of the Hills Congregational Church at 5524 E. Lafayette Blvd. in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be sent to The University of Wisconsin Foundation, The School of Business Fund, 1848 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53726-4090.
