Sterett, Clarence Lon
Clarence Lon Sterett (Lon), 78, died January 13, 2016, at the Sherman Hospice Home on the Mayo Clinic campus in Phoenix, Arizona, after a long battle with cancer. Lon was born at home in Scobey, Montana on April 11, 1937 to Clarence Howard and Elsie Whipple Sterett. He served in the United States Army, attended college, and worked as a lineman first in Montana, and later for Minnesota Power in Duluth and Silver Bay, Minnesota, retiring as Lineman-in-Charge in 1995. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially the family camping trips. He was a member of The Gideons International. He loved to travel; participated in many sports - playing golf, bowling, hunting and fishing. Especially dear to him was his little dog, El Dart-O. In 2009, he and his wife Tobilyn married and moved from Duluth, Minnesota to Sun City, Arizona, where they enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather and travelled extensively. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brothers Leighton and Darold, sister Geneva Thievin, step-son Arthur Klofstad, and previous spouses Irene and Lylia. He is survived by his wife Tobilyn of Sun City Arizona, daughters Doanie (Mark) Erickson and Kristy Jones, both of Scobey, Montana, Darla Sterett of Norwich, Vermont, and Janice Shepherd of Hermantown, Minnesota; step-children Mark (Paula) Goutermont, Phil (Becky) Goutermont, Rick Goutermont, Tim (Carrie) Goutermont, Denise (Joe) Harrison, all of Silver Bay, Minnesota, Ben Fameree of Duluth, Minnesota, and Rachel Fameree of Sun City, Arizona, and Karla Dison and Lisa Rentz, both of Rochester, Minnesota; also sisters Vereen Shockley, Anita (Jim) Humphrey, and Sherrie Crawford, all of Sun City, Arizona, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Service to be held on Monday, January 18, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 West Thunderbird Road, Peoria, Arizona. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
