Dale Allen Spencer Obituary
Spencer, Dale Allen
passed away peacefully at sunset in Scottsdale, AZ on November 5, 2016. Dale was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 2, 1945 to Clayton and Kathleen Spencer. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Maine in 1967, Dale joined the United States Air Force. During his time of service Dale learned to fly several aircraft, achieved the rank of Captain, obtained his MBA and married his wife Pat. Dale and his family moved to the Twin Cities in 1980 where he became a pioneer and leader in the Medical Device Industry. While the list of accomplishments in his professional career are long and varied, Dale would be most proud of
his time as a leader at SciMed Life Systems until the merger with Boston Scientific in 1995 and the founding of eV3, which is now a part of global medical device leader Medtronic. Most importantly Dale was a loving husband, father and a loyal friend to many. Dale cherished the beauty of the outdoors his entire adult life, embracing it like no other. In particular he enjoyed golfing, running, biking, skiing with his family & friends, and climbing some of the world's tallest mountains. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Kathleen Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Pat; his children, daughter, Christy, son Jeff & wife Heather; brother, Darrell & wife Bev; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday, November 14th at 10:00 AM, with visitation starting at 9:30 AM at Lakewood Cemetery's Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be made in Dale's honor to The Veteran's Yoga Project or to a charitable endeavor you feel best represents your connection with Dale and his passions.
