Desanka Jones Obituary

Jones, Desanka Vukovich
81, of 22 Windcrest Drive, Greenville, SC; widow of John Jones, died February 1, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. A native of Globe, Arizona, daughter of the late Spiro and Yela Medin Vukovich, she was a graduate of Globe High School ('49) and Arizona State College (now ASU: '53). Most recently, she was a retired employee of the Hartford Insurance Company after completing a teaching career in the U.S. and abroad. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Eric Jones of Mauldin, South Carolina and Steven and Juliette Jones of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Louis Vukovich of Tucson, Arizona and Dushan "Duke" Vukovich of Carlsbad, California; and one sister, Nada Pitt of Great Falls, Montana. Known affectionately by her family and friends as "Dee", Desanka was an avid and accomplished cook. She enjoyed foods of all kinds and was known for the fine meals she hosted for family and friends over the years. Having lived and travelled extensively in the United States, Europe, and Turkey, Desanka had an adventurous spirit that produced numerous memorable and unique experiences. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wayne Cole on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at The Wood Mortuary. Burial was held in the Mountain View Cemetery, Greer, SC.
