Arteaga, Don Enriquez
96, passed from this world on August 21, 2015. Don was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on September 6, 1918. Don resided in Phoenix when he joined the Army and fought in the World War II Central Europe region. From 1943 to 1946 he was assigned to the Armored Medical Battalion. In Paris, France on February 2, 1945 he obtained his U.S. citizenship. At stateside in 1946 he joined the U.S. Air Force and while assigned to Castle Air Force Base he married Mildred Elizabeth Alloway. Extremely happy with Mildred, they raised six children and were stationed at seven air bases in the U.S. and twice in Europe, which gave them the opportunity to travel many countries in Europe. After raising six children and retiring from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant on July 31, 1973, they settled in Vacaville, California. In 1982 they moved to Glendale, Arizona. Don is preceded in death by his wife Mildred, his daughter Esther Emett, his stepsons Wade, Clyde, and Clark Alloway, his parents Jose and Maria Arteaga, and his four brothers, Jesus, Merced, Gabriel, and Ignacio. Surviving him are his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Linda, Edward and Ann, his son-in-law Evan Emett, and 21 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Laurence and Freddy and sisters Carmen Martinez and Mary Perez. Visitation will be on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 North 59th Avenue, Glendale, AZ. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 9:30 am.
