Ray, Donald "Don" Chafin
Donald "Don" Chafin Ray, 83, of Casa Grande, AZ, beloved husband, father and grandfather, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Don was born on May 18th, 1932, to Willie Woodson "Bill" and Leo "Tot" Chafin Ray. He grew up in Altoga, TX, with his sister, Doris Wynelle (Ray) Marshall. Don served honorably as an Army Data Analyst in the Korean War from May 1949 to November 1952. He and Nancy Jean Beeman were married on December 17th 1960 and were blessed with 3 children, Michael David and his wife Callie Ann, Michelle Eileen and her partner James Brandenburg, Melissa Lorraine and her husband Daniel Crain. 8 grandchildren, Aaron Nathanael Ray, Gary Radcliffe Gray, Ira George White, Angela Elizabeth White, Meghan Rae (Brandenburg) Daughetee, Samantha LeAnne (Brandenburg) Greenlee, Zoe Elizabeth Birch, Zac Casimir Crain. 3 great grandchildren, Ian Murphy Ray, Izik Michael Ray and Jaidynn Savon Greenlee.
Don held many different jobs during his life and lived in many different places, finally settling in Casa Grande, where he, his wife and her parents built their own homes on neighboring property. We, his family, believe his biggest attribute was his heart, his ability to love. He was a rock for us and many others. A memorial service will be held at his home at 15076 W. Waverly Dr., Casa Grande, AZ, on Saturday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m. A light lunch will follow. Contact Melissa at 602-677-8226 for further information.
