Bennett, Donovan E.
87, of Sun Lakes, Arizona passed away December 11, 2015 in Chandler, Arizona. Donovan was born on August 12, 1928 in Akeley, Minnesota. He was the fourth of five children to Matt A and Gladys (Johnson) Bennett. Donovan attended grammar school in Akeley and high school at Klamath Falls Union High School in Oregon. He then graduated from the University of Washington. Donovan joined the United States Navy in 1948 and graduated from Class 46 of Officer Candidate School and the Navy Supply Corps School in 1960. Donovan was united in marriage with Jean M. Zimmerman in 1954. In 1970, he retired after 22 years of service in the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant. His second career was with Kenmore Premix, where he contributed to the construction of new buildings, houses and shopping malls. In 1992, Donovan and Jean moved to Sun Lakes where he enjoyed golfing. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, was athletic and had the opportunity to climb Mount Rainer with his son while living in Seattle. Donovan was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Keith Bennett (Marjorie) and sisters: Joyce Holly Bartels (Conrad "Jack") and Mable Alethe Schlinder (Bernard "Barney"). He is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years: Jean M. Bennett; children: Vivian M. Bennett-Fong (Tommy) and Matthew N. Bennett (Michele); grandchildren: Olivia Teeuws (John); Michael Bennett and Sarah Bennett; great-grandson Graham Teeuws; brother Roger Bennett (Anne) and many loving nieces and nephews.
