Doris Meharry Obituary
89, of Phoenix, and formerly of Chandler, AZ, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2012. Doris was born in Star City, MI, and graduated from nursing school there and served as a cadet nurse during WWII. She and her family moved to Mesa in August 1957 and then to Chandler in 1959. Doris is survived by daughters Sue, Janis (Jerry) and sons, John (Julie) and Robert (Pauline), as well as 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Meharry; brothers, Robert and Walter Cavanagh, and sister, Ila Laverdiere. She will be remembered by all those fortunate enough to know her for her great faith, love, humor, kindness, gentleness, and great cooking. Funeral services are planned for 10:00 am Sat., Jan. 21, at the Sun Valley Community Church, 6240 S. Price Rd., Tempe, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Valley of the Sun Cemetery. Arrangements by Bueler Mortuary.

Doris was living at the same group home where my mother, Mary is living. I was able to know her for about a year & always enjoyed talking to her & including her in playing board games. I could tell she had a sweet spirit about her. She will be missed. May the Lord comfort you with your loss.
