Dorothea Allen Bucklin, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away August 13, 2016 following a valiant three-year battle with cancer. She was born on February 15, 1933 in San Rafael, California, daughter of Albert Edward Allen and Sarah Heffernan Allen, and younger sister of William Allen and Jean Allen Re, who predeceased her in 1945 during WWII and 2001, respectively. Dottie is survived by her son, Donald L. Bucklin, MD of Phoenix and Barbara R. Arsena of San Antonio, Texas, their spouses, Nancy and Victor, her two treasured granddaughters, Lindsay and Lauren Bucklin of Phoenix, as well as her niece Sandra, nephews Bill and Rick, and their extended families. Dottie was a nationally-ranked roller skating champion as a teenager growing up in California. She married the love of her life, Donald Paul Bucklin, a WWII veteran who preceded her in death in 1998. Dottie and Paul made their home in various locations throughout the U.S. during his career with GM, including San Francisco, Helena, Spokane, Seattle, Los Angeles, Flint, Cincinnati, Saint Louis and Kansas City, before ultimately retiring in Phoenix. Dottie was a wonderful, kind mother, loving grandmother and a true friend to many over the years. Visitation, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., with Rosary at 7:00 P.M., Hansen Chapel, 8314 North 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ. A memorial Mass will be held in the chapel at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Parish, 11300 North 64th Street, Scottsdale, AZ at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
