Braun, Dorothy
87, of Litchfield Park passed away on March 18, 2016. Dorothy was born in Kenmore, Ohio, to Paul and Helen McFadden on February 13, 1929. She married the love of her life, Donald Braun, on August 21, 1948, and they had five children. In 1961 they moved their young family to Phoenix, Arizona. A homemaker for most of her adult life, Dorothy returned to school and received an Associate's Degree in Library Technology in 1984. She began a second career as a medical librarian for Good Samaritan Hospital from her graduation until her retirement in 1994. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don, brothers Richard and Charles McFadden, sisters Patricia Smarr and Joanne Epling, and her son Terrance. Dorothy is survived by her sisters Ruth Ann Pelyhes and Bernadine Boyce, her brother James McFadden, as well as her daughters Sue Ann Thomas and Mary Braun, and sons Paul and David Braun and his spouse Pamela. Dorothy was blessed with nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, all of whom brought great love and joy to her life. Besides her family, Dorothy loved needlework and crafts, had a lively sense of humor and a keen intellect. She made friends easily and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 24 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 9925 W. Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ 85392. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sun Health Foundation in Surprise, AZ, or Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Phoenix, AZ, in memory of Dorothy Braun.
