Dorothy Williams Whiteaker Obituary
Whiteaker, Dorothy Williams
85, of Phoenix, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2016 after a short illness. Preceded in death by her parents, Jim & Jessie Williams, and sister Martha Gray. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rob; children Bob (Dee), Cindy (Dan), Martha (Gentry), and grandchildren Ginnie, Robert, Reed, Jack, and Josh. Dot was born and raised in Enid, OK and graduated from Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater, OK. It was in college that she and Rob met. They lived several places throughout the Midwest during the early years of their marriage but had settled in Phoenix by 1970. Dot was a loyal and faithful friend who loved to entertain, travel, cook, read, sew, and play the piano and accordion. Her sense of humor and welcoming spirit made everyone feel like they were part of her extended family. Every holiday was a reason to have a picnic or brunch or party where friends and family could all be together. She traveled to numerous countries on 6 continents, taught English in China, helped Rob run a manufacturing plant, owned her own business, and tutored school children. She taught several different Bible Study classes throughout the years and daily demonstrated her strong Christian faith. She was a fun and loving Mother who set high expectations but allowed her kids to chart their own course and provided support along the way. She will be greatly missed! A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, March 26 in the Chapel at North Phoenix Baptist Church (5757 N Central Ave). Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to www.goBGR.org
