Edward Everett Bonds Obituary
Bonds, Edward Everett
73 of Cornville, Az, departed this world on March 1, 2016 in the Village of Oak Creek, Az. Born on March 6, 1942 in Tempe, he was the fourth child of Tom and Fannie Bonds. After graduating from Gilbert High School, Gilbert AZ, Class of 1960, Ed enlisted in the US Army, where he achieved the rank of sergeant at the young age of 20. While stationed in West Germany he met his loving wife of 52 years, Gudrun Philipp of Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. After returning to the states, they settled down in Martinez, CA where they raised their two children, Sandy Johnston and Brian Bonds. In 1997, after 30 years of employment at the Union Oil Company, he retired and returned back to his home state settling in Cornville, Az. There they built their dream home and Ed lived out remainder of his life, enjoying everything that Arizona has to offer; fishing, hunting, gardening, and the gorgeous vistas of the Verde Valley and the Mingus Mountain Range from their private deck. In addition to his wife and children, Ed is survived by his three grandchildren, Carter, Tarenne, and Garrett Johnston of Cary, N.C. He will also be terribly missed by his two surviving sisters, Barbara Janice Brant and Sharon Fastenau of Mesa, Az, and multiple nieces and nephews spread out over the US Southwest and Germany. Devoted husband, loving father, faithful brother, fun uncle, and a good son, he has departed this world to be reunited with his parents and his two brothers, Earl and Melvin. A private family service will held this summer in the Trinity Alps, where Ed will be laid to rest, per his final wishes, amongst the wilderness, streams, and wildlife he so enjoyed. Arrangements handled by Dignity Memorial. Ed, with much love, may you rest in peace.
