Edward Hermanson Obituary

Hermanson, Edward Paul
42, was born in Phoenix on February 1, 1971 and died on Friday, May 31, 2013 at John C. Lincoln Hospital, also in Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Hermanson and is survived by his father Paul Hermanson, sister Michele Hermanson, brother Austin Hudson, niece Annie Chaves, and grandmother Helen Alderson. Ed graduated from Sunnyslope High School in 1989 and settled from 1994 - 2010 in Washington DC. Ed was a person who beat his own drum, literally as a drummer, but also as a fierce and sometimes cantankerous individualist, overflowing with creativity and wit. Ed spent 10 years as a fearless bicycle messenger in Washington DC then managed one of the oldest bars in DC, before moving to help care for his elderly Grandfather. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, 7pm, at Hansen's Mortuary in Phoenix.

Man thanks so much for leaving this Notice about Ed up and posted with even a few pics, how nice, how great company Ed was...It is not about missing....I liked the use of the word cantankerous, that's probably the right area... where Ed was.

Ed, I always remember you and the boys (JP and Eric Roman) kindly sharing your apartment with me back in 1998 when I was stuck in between group houses with no place else to go. Many chill and fun early evenings at the Lucky Bar having beers after a hard day on the streets of DC. Another cool cat gone too soon. Peace.

Ed, Ed - I cannot face it quite yet, just heard the sad news a day ago ... I do not know how many times over the years I ran into you in DC by chance while you still did the messenger business ... Lucky Bar? Atomic Billiards? Talking mainly about trips you wished to do and never did, photography - and books!! Then the bird years ... saying: "you know I love you guys, Gaby!" Man, you .... You were very much loved back, too. Peace!

You were my best friend, and the time we spent growing up together and sharing our passions and ideas during those formative years were hands down the best days of my life, even when I was too stupid too realize it. I never thought I'd live to see this overflowing sadness. I miss the past, and I miss the future we will never have now. I always imagined us as a couple of grouchy old farts, complaining of our ailments and laughing at jokes that only we could ever understand. You will always be remembered, and we will sing.

Ah Ed, we all love you so much. I will carry you in my heart my friend, but I will miss you every day.

Your niece Annie and I miss you. I will think of you each time I ride my track bike to battle the cars and obstacles ahead. Though, I wish we had another ride together. Rest well.
