Knudson, Elizabeth "Lib" R.
85, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Sunrise of Chandler Assisted living in Chandler, AZ, under the care of dedicated staff at Sunrise, Hospice Comprehensive and Palliative care of Phoenix. Lib was born on February 2, 1930 in Kennett Square, PA, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Lydia Jackson. Lib attended business school after graduating high school, and led an exciting career in both the corporate world and the retail business. After over 10 years with the Federal Housing Authority in Wilmington, DE, She opened and operated a men's clothing store in downtown Wilmington, Rodney's Tie Bar. Years later the corporate world called her back and she began a new career at DuPont & Company at several of their Wilmington Locations until she retired in 1995. Lib enjoyed a brief happy retirement with her husband of 25 years, Frank H. Parker Jr., until his passing in 1997. Lib was fortunate to find the second love of her life, Jack R. Knudson. After their marriage in 2000, they relocated from Wilmington to Chandler, AZ where they enjoyed an active social life, golf, museums, the arts and the gorgeous Arizona weather, until Jack's passing in 2012. Lib will be remembered as a strong yet caring woman, serious yet fun loving. Her family and friends will always appreciate her gracious, lovely holiday dinners and the special gatherings throughout the years. She'd prepare a feast for all to relax and enjoy and with the utmost of ease. It brought her joy to bring people together to share special times, made extra special by her caring and giving nature. In addition to her parents and spouses, Lib was also preceded by in death by her brother, Franklin "Bud" Jackson. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Smith (Alan) Mildred Hynson, step-children Sharon Corey (Bob) Barry Bowden (Sande) Debbie Hayes (Bill) and Angel Parker (Jeff Mitchell) as well as many adoring grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A viewing and memorial service will be held for family and friends on Thursday, August 20 at 2Pm at Affordable Cremation & Burial Chapel, 1130 S. Horne in Mesa, Az. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lib's honor to Hospice Comprehensive and Palliative Care, 2111 E Highland Ave., Ste B-425, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
