Morris, Dr. Erdie Lee
Dr. Erdie Lee Morris passed away August 10, 2016 at the age of 80. Erdie was born in Moline, Illinois and moved to Phoenix in 1959. A lifelong learner, he held the following degrees: A BS and a M.Ed in Biology from Arizona State University, a Ed.D in Bionucleonics from Purdue University and a MPH in Health Education from the University of California, Berkeley. During his 37-year tenure at Grand Canyon University, he held several positions including Dean of the College of Science and Allied Health. His academic research, active involvement in GCU's International Student Exchange Program and sabbaticals allowed him to see the world and live in countries such as Puerto Rico, Haiti, Mexico and New Zealand. Active in the community, Erdie served as Board of Directors President for Terros drug rehabilitation center and served for both the Governor's and the State of Arizona Task Force on Environmental Education. Although he had many Accolades he preferred to called "Jus Erd". Erdie loved educating, crossword puzzles, traveling and the symphony but his true passion was his family. His quick wit, kindness, generosity and adventurous spirit will be truly missed. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Bobbi. He is survived by sons, Michael and Terry, daughters-in-law Vicki and Nancy and granddaughter Ashley, as well as many life-long friends. The family would like to extend our gratitude to Mountain Ranch Care Home and Arizona Family Hospice for exceptional loving care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Friends of Arizona PBS @ AZPBS.ORG. A celebration of life will be held August 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 6747 E. Broadway Rd. Meza AZ 85206. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories and condolences online at www.obits.azcentral.com or at www.advantagefunerals.com
