Eric Zugay Obituary

Eric J. Zugay, 35, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Arizona State University (1992), a Masters of Science degree in Hydrology from the University of Arizona (1995) and was actively pursuing a civil engineering degree while working as an environmental engineer. His passion for education in engineering came first. When cancer engulfed Eric's life, he then redirected his life goals to find a cure for his cancer, knowing his time was short. He was an avid hiker and bicyclist. Survivors include his father James Zugay, brother Brian Zugay, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Diana Lucille. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 4th, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd. A family gathering will follow.

Brian and Mr. Jim Zugay

I wish to express my most sincere condolences to you both for your loss. I know losing a loved one is never easy and is a painful event to go through. Eric I never met but in speaking with Brian he seemed like a wonderful man whose strength and determination should be an inspiration to us all,in addition the cats Momma and Zack liked being with him more then Brian! I hope perhaps this memory of the cats and other loving memories of his life can bring happiness and joyful rememberence of Eric and his life and the moments that you shared during his time on earth.

God Bless Eric,

I had the pleasure of working with Eric for just under 2 years. He was a influence on me during his HEAD USHER time at Laguna Village 10 theaters in 1989. His work ethic was always higher then most. I wish him peace in heaven and that he may watch over his family in this most difficult time.

Dear Eric:

I wish you peace and freedom from the earthly constraints of cancer. I remember working with you, enjoying your energy and enthusiasm for the profession we both loved. We will all miss you here; however, God is the lucky one. He's gained another Angel to help pour out the rain.

To My Brother Jim, God had Blest you with an outstanding son, for me a very brilliant and interesting nephew. I have inheritted Eric's coloquial statement "Onward through the Fog". I will always remember our conversations.

Jim,

I wish that I could offer you words of comfort, but I know at this point there are none. Eric was so special and he deserved only the best from life. He touched my life in many ways and he taught me so much. He worked harder than any person that I know. I'm in comforted by the fact that he is now again with his mother and I am even more gratefull to know that he is looking over me, my family, and the environment. Eric will forever in my heart. Much Love, Stephanie, Nate, Jillian, and Daisey
