Eudora Laverne Sanderson Obituary
Eudora LaVerne Sanderson
LaVerne passed away March 13, 2013 in her home in Phoenix at the age of 90! She was born in Brownwood, Texas on September 15, 1922 to Walter and Ida Taylor, the youngest of seven children. LaVerne moved to Phoenix in 1927. In 1938 she married Donald Dewey Sanderson. Their marriage lasted for almost 50 years! They had two daughters: Sandra Sue and Sharon Kay, two sons-in-law: David Kimmerle and Dick Thompson, nine grandchildren: Matthew, Paige, Andrew, Brooke, Ashley, Brittany Kimmerle and Julie, Jenna and Jonathon Thompson, and sixteen great grandchildren. In 1955 LaVerne and Don founded Don Sanderson Ford in Glendale. Starting with 20 employees, Sanderson grew to one of the Nation's largest dealerships and today employs over 500 people! LaVerne was a big part of the success. Her joy was cooking for the company parties or always having a smile and kind words for others. Her life was devoted to giving back. For many years she was a chairwoman for the March of Dimes. LaVerne built the Don Sanderson Gymnasium in honor of her late husband, so the children at Northwest Community Christian School had a place to play sports. With her love for people and their needs, she helped build the Northgate Church of Christ building! Many loved her and her funny stories. She always kept everyone laughing. Her love for her Grandchildren was of the highest level. Whether it was sitting on a hard backed bench watching sports, driving them in endless directions, listening to their every problem, or making their school lunches…she was dearly loved by all 9 of them! She had a special way about her that made an imprint on all the hearts that knew her! In her honor, she would wish that we could all extend a helping hand to someone in need. LaVerne was the Greatest Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother ever! We will miss her in so many ways! Memorial Service will be Monday April 1st at 1PM, Northgate Church of Christ, 16612 North 21st Ave, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Northgate Youth and Growth Programs. Send to Northgate Church of Christ.
