Evelyn Ruth Tonovitz passed away August 7, 2016 in Tempe, AZ. She was born March 25, 1928 at the home of Helen and Tony Hazelback. She went to Immaculate Conception grade school for 8 years and graduated from Bellevue High school in 1945. She met and married the love of her life Harold (Mike) Tonovitz when they were cheerleaders in High school. They were married in February 1947 while he was in the Navy. Their first home was in Mare Island, San Francisco where he was stationed. After his discharge in 1948 they came back to Bellevue and raised their family who are Michael (JoAnn, deceased), Roger (Barbara), Denise (John Tinnel). They were married in the Immaculate Conception Church in 1947 and celebrated 52 years of happy married life before he preceded her in death in 1999. She was employed at the Bellevue Lamp Plant for 11 years before it closed and they moved to Arizona in 1984. In Bellevue she was a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Christopher study club. In Arizona she was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Community and a member of the Women's Fellowship. She was in charge of the Hospitality for 25 years. She also had done the church laundry for 5 years before she moved to Las Palmas. In Chandler she was a long time member of the ladies Bowling League, "The Wednesday Wonders". She enjoyed making hooked rugs and had made one for each of her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her luscious desserts. She is survived by her 3 children, Michael of Belton, MO, Roger (Barbra) of Merritt Island and Denise (John) of Seligman, AZ, 6 grandchildren, Heather (Carl) Frasher of Belton, MO, Kevin (Stacey) Tonovitz of Olathe, KS, Carie (Will) of Boller, Sicily, Jason (Susan) Tonovitz of Florida, Nicholas Tinnel of Mesa, AZ, Barbra (Danny) Virgil of Washington, 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Ken (La Donna) Myers, who resides in Fremont, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Tony Hazelback, her brother Wayne Hazelback and her daughter- in- law JoAnn Tonovitz. She will have a memorial mass at 10:00 am Friday, August 12, 2016 at St. Timothy Catholic Parish, 1730 W Guadalupe Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202, gathering to follow. She will be cremated and be interred at Valley of the Sun, Chandler, AZ beside her husband Mike in the "Wall of Honor". Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
