Zimmerman, Florris Elaine (Wonka)
90, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on June 2, 2016. Florris was born September 11, 1925 in Weston, Nebraska. She was one of five children born to Frank and Anna (Barry) Wonka. Florris married Clyde Carl Zimmerman on June 22, 1947 in Blue Hill, NB, and they had four children. The family moved to Arizona in 1956, and settled in Scottsdale in 1957. Florris worked as a beautician, and later as an office assistant. She volunteered her time at her church, Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Tempe, AZ, and as a docent at The Little Red Schoolhouse Museum in Scottsdale. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and baseball. Florris was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed. Florris is survived by her children: Joe (Pam Carey) Zimmerman of Scottsdale AZ; Pattie (Doug) Dixon of Larkspur, CO; Susan (Michael) Whitaker of Chandler, AZ; and Kim Butler of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren: Joe Zimmerman of Scottsdale, AZ; Michael (Shirin Ansari) Zimmerman of Scottsdale, AZ; Robert Butler of Chandler, AZ; and Gilbert Butler of Chandler, AZ; one great-grandchild: Odette Everly Zimmerman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Zimmerman; parents Frank and Anna Wonka; siblings Willard "Bill" Wonka, Frank "Casey" Wonka, Donald "Jack" Wonka, and Florrine VanWinkle. Services will be held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 3:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 515 E. Continental Drive, Tempe, AZ 85281.
