Frankie Brungardt Obituary
Brungardt, Frankie
Frankie, the most loving wife, mom, and grandmother, passed away at home on September 10, 2016 surrounded by her family who loves her so very much. Our mom was born Frankie Mae Caldwell in Kansas City, Missouri on January 11, 1929. After high school, she attended Kansas City Business College for two years and then met and married our dad, Air Force Lieutenant Val H. Brungardt. They were married for 62 years, many of those in Madison, Wisconsin as well as here in Arizona. Our dad describes mom as a 'great companion.' For her five children, mom showed us what is important in life - love of family, looking out for one another, unconditional love, and most important - living by the Golden Rule. One of her greatest joys was being a mom and later, she enjoyed doting on her granddaughters who lovingly called her Ni Ni. She had many interests including playing bridge, gardening, all dogs, music, and traveling with our dad - including extensive People to People trips to Russia, Czechoslovakia, and most all of the European countries. Mom dearly loved her husband, Val, her children, Joe, Bob, Jim, Suzanne (Bob) and Jack (Lisa), granddaughters Nicole and Lauren, step-granddaughters Jessica and Megan, and her protective and loving big sister Helen DeCuyper. She, too, loved her childhood dog, Pal, and our childhood dog, Carmelita. We will always remember how fun she was to be with and her kind and gentle way. She will forever be in our hearts. We want to especially thank her caregiver, Mary Jane (Jade) Hart, for helping care for our mom in her last year. Our family will celebrate Frankie's life in a private ceremony. Memorial donations in Frankie's memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Mission Advancement Office, 6400 Minnesota Avenue, Saint Louis, MO 63111.
