Gary C. Anders Ph.D Obituary
Anders, Gary C. Ph.D.
65, of Phoenix, AZ died on February 17, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy, son, Tom, daughter, Mary Anders-Greenwell, son-in-law, Stuart Greenwell, and grandson, Wyatt. Gary was born and raised in West Texas. He came from a family that had little money, but pride in their Texas roots, and strong work ethic. Not only was he was the first in his family to attend college, but he was accepted into the doctoral program at the University of Notre Dame. There he earned his degree in economics and began his career in academics. Gary taught at George Mason University, the University of Alaska, Thunderbird School of Global Management, and Arizona State University (ASU). He also was a Fulbright Scholar and Kellogg Foundation Fellow. Through these programs, he taught at schools in Mexico, Japan, England, and Morocco. Gary's interest in international studies translated to his 22 years of teaching at ASU West where he organized trips for students to travel abroad and to learn from businesses in other cultures. He loved teaching and encouraging his students to develop to their fullest potential. Gary's great wit and kind heart will be dearly missed. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, March 18, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church (chapel), 330 W. Coral Gables, Phoenix, 85023.
