Gary Charles Chenault Obituary
Chenault, Gary Charles
Gary passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 20, 2015 at the age of 59. Gary was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in Phoenix by his parents Euell and Loretta Chenault, who preceded him to their eternal home. Gary was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he experienced the most joy in life spending time with his family and friends whom he loved so much. He was so excited and overjoyed to be "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren 5 year old Olivia and 2 year old Blake. They would all light up with excitement whenever they saw each other and it was such an overwhelming joy to witness. Gary had a lifelong passion for music and taught himself to play the guitar at a young age. Growing up he and his brother Terry enjoyed playing their guitars and singing together in church and at home with family and friends. He instilled his love of music in his sons Charlie and David, and together they loved composing songs, singing and "jamming" on their guitars and drums. Always the outdoorsman, he began hunting and fishing with his father and brother in his youth. He had an infectious sense of adventure and enriched the lives of those around him during many fishing/camping/off-roading trips with his best friend and brother in spirit Ray Hacker, countless relatives, and many good friends. He loved being on the water and bass fishing at Bartlett Lake with his sons was one of the things he enjoyed most. He also loved being out on the ocean, cruising to new places and relaxing while enjoying the ocean breeze with his wife Cheryl and their always entertaining cruising partners Sheila and Ray Hacker. Throughout Gary's career in manufacturing he was blessed with so many lasting friendships that still remain today. Gary was a loving, loyal, kindhearted, generous, compassionate, and strong man who was always willing to lend a hand to others. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cheryl, sons Charlie and David, daughter-in-law Katie, grandchildren Olivia and Blake, brother Terry (Betty), nieces, nephews, cousins, Hacker, Deane and Lasher families, and many good friends. He loved you all so deeply. His courage and faithfulness during his last journey in this life has been an inspiration to us all. Gary always said "God is in control" and he glorified his Savior throughout his journey. He will forever be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Gary loved the Lord with all his heart and had a deep desire for all to know the Lord. John 3:16 New International Version (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 27th at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix AZ 85027. Visitation at 10:30 followed by a memorial service at 11:30.
