Gary Westphalen Obituary
Westphalen, Gary
71, of Fountain Hills, AZ ended his fight with cancer on November 13, 2016 and took his place in heaven where he is sure to be the life of the party. His large personality was matched only by the size of his loving and generous heart. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, his career in the insurance industry took him to Oklahoma where he founded Westphalen Insurance Services, Inc. He was an industry leader, took multiple turns as president of The Oklahoma Surplus Lines Assoc., and nationally served a term as president of The National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices. He had a passion for all his hobbies; golf, travel and Cornhusker football. In his retirement to Arizona, he developed a passion for Cardinals football and rekindled his love for horses. His reining horse, Jac, brought him great joy and pride as an award winning champion. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, mother Betty Roeder, brother Mark, sister Chanda Moore, his children, Kim Stockbauer, Jeff Westphalen (Jennifer), Matt Westphalen (Kendra), Justin Westphalen (Audrey) and Bobby Lester (Erin); grandchildren Zach and Maddie Stockbauer, Jeffrey, Lauren, Alex and MacKenzie Westphalen, Jackson and Hudson Westphalen and Jacob and Zane Lester.
