Gene Alan Stanley Obituary
Stanley, Gene Alan
87, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on July 8, 2016. He is 'dancing with the stars' with a kick in his step and a twinkle in his blue eyes. Gene was born October 16, 1928 in Twin Falls, Idaho. He grew up the youngest of four children. After graduating high school in Pocatello, Idaho, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served four years. He attended Idaho State University where he was an English major. He made his way to Arizona in 1961 and produced a radio program for several years. HIs passion came to fruition when he became the owner/manager of Ken Flower's Store for Men, which he ran for over 25 years. He was the best dressed man of his genre. (Yes, plaid jackets included!) He was actively involved in the North Phoenix Rotary, EAGP, Southwest Red Wingers, a Zoomer for the A to Z National Horseshow, and one of the original members of the Lukesmen. He was also the "ambassador" for Kathy's Estate Sales. One of his favorite pastimes was the collection of stuff. You could always find Gene and Sally braking at all yard sales for the next "great" find, one for the shop and two for the house. He was the most valued collectible of all. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends (furry friends, too) and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sally Knowles Stanley, daughters Cynthia Stanley-Gentry (Greg) and Carol Lynn Wood (Mark), sons Mike Stanley, Geof Stanley (Tom), Greg Stanley (Dani), and Graydon Stanley (Tammi), 9 wonderful grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at Crossroads United Methodist Church, 7901 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ Saturday, July 30th at 10 a.m. Donations can be made to Ryan's House ( ), Arizona Humane Society, or The Phoenix Zoo.
