Honey, Dad, Grandpa, Gramps, Grandpapa, passed into the arm of his eternal loved ones on May 28, 2016 at the age of 93. Gerald was born on April 15, 1923 in Chandler, Arizona. He married the high school twinkle-of-his-eye, Dorothy Leavitt Ray on September 26, 1941 in the Mesa, AZ Temple. Gerald honorable served his country in the South Pacific as a member of the US Navy during WWII. Following his service, he continued his lifelong career with the United States Postal Service. After retiring from the Post Office, Gerald spent numerous years instilling into many of his grandchildren his incredible work ethic while he managed Cage World. Gerald enjoyed sports- especially hunting and basketball, and he supported his family in all their endeavors. Throughout his life, Gerald served his Father in Heaven faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and left an undeniable and powerful example of goodness. Gerald's greatest love was his family. "Family Is Everything!", He would always say. Leaving behind his beloved darling of more than 74 years, Dorothy Leavitt Ray, his heart and mind were ever full with thoughts of his precious posterity, including his 7 children and spouses; Jerianne Hanks (Eugene), Gary Ray (Diana), Dennis Ray (LuAnn), Ron Ray (Helen), Bruce Ray (Rena), Mark Ray (Mercedes), Bill Ray (Kristy). Gerald kept an ever growing, daily account of each member of his family; 63 grandchildren, 122 great grandkids, 21 great-great grandkids.
