a native to Arizona, passed away April 30 at the 's Ryan House. Edna Gladys Day was born on August 20th 1923 in Clifton, Arizona to John and Edna Day. Gladys grew up in Morenci, Arizona, graduated high school there and met the love of her life, Steve Vukcevich. They Married on June 23, 1949 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. In 1952 the couple moved to Fort Grant where Steve had been appointed Superintendant of the Arizona State Industrial School, the state's main facility for juvenile rehabilitation. During the next 20 years they raised three children and became known to most of the people that worked there as the head of a wonderful family. Steve and Gladys owned and ran the Buckskin Guest Ranch in the same area. Steve later became a member of the Arizona House of Representatives. The two were married forty-seven years before his passing in 1996. Gladys provided an atmosphere of calm & class wherever she went. She was a strong proponent of community responsibilities. On her 90th birthday she took a hot-air balloon ride, surrounded by her loved ones. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Steve John Vukcevich, brother Kenneth "Tony" Day, Sister Joni Day and Step-daughter Stephanie Brue. She is survived by her two sons, John Vukcevich and Ray "Sonny" Vukcevich, her grandchildren Vincent Vukcevich, Stephanie Rene Vukcevich and Steven Vukcevich, and her great-granddaughters Iesha Frazer and Nadia Vukcevich-White. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to and the Arizona Humane Society.
