Gloria Jean Wagner Obituary
Wagner, Gloria Jean
Gloria Wagner died peacefully on July 26, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona. Born to Hans and Sena Larsen on August 18, 1929 in Marquette, Nebraska, Glo grew up in Central City, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska. In 1950, she married Dick Wagner, also from Central City and they began a busy and exciting life that took the two of them across the United States. They lived in San Antonio; San Diego; Hutchinson, Kansas; Lincoln, Nebraska; Hollywood, California; the San Fernando Valley; Salina, Kansas; St. Louis; Los Angeles; Cincinnati; Houston; and New York City. Son Randy was born in 1953 and daughter Cindy in 1957. As Dick's career in sports and entertainment progressed, Glo held the family together. In each city they lived, she made many cherished friends. Dick and Glo settled in Phoenix in 1987. As Dick continued working, Glo volunteered at the Phoenix Art Museum, taught reading to young children and nurtured her family, including grandchildren Zane Wagner, Liz Wagner, Ian Wagner and son-in-law Brian Weick. She and Dick traveled widely. Glo enjoyed visits with her family and the companionship of friends and she stayed active in PEO, Pi Beta Phi and book clubs. She walked daily, always at a brisk pace. Dick passed away in 2006. Gloria is also survived by sister Bev and sister-in-law Kaye. Services and interment will be in Beatrice, Nebraska at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home in Phoenix and Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. Contributions in Gloria Wagner's name can be made to the Phoenix Art Museum Children's Educational Programs, 1625 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85004; or to an organization of the donor's choice.
