Stone, Harry Norman
69, passed away the morning of December 31, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona; he was 69 years old. Harry is survived by his three sons, David (Lara), Elliott and Shawn; grandchildren, Andrew, Allison and Jared; sisters, Penina Steiner and Haia van Gelderen; nieces; nephew; and friends. Harry was laid to rest at Hills of Eternity Memorial Park in Colma, California on Thursday, January 3, 2013. Following the service, family and friends held shiva in Atherton, California through Friday January 4, 2013. Shiva continued at the respective homes of Shawn Stone in Phoenix, Arizona and David and Lara Stone in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in Tel Aviv, Harry obtained his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his law degree from the University of Buffalo. Harry began practicing law in 1970 in Buffalo, New York. In 1977 he relocated his family to Phoenix, Arizona where he practiced law as a sole practitioner. In 2004, son Shawn joined Harry in the family law practice. In 2009, son Elliott followed suit expanding offices into California. Harry practiced law until September 2012. Harry generously gave of his time to help the needy with their legal problems and received several awards over the years from the Maricopa County Volunteer Lawyer Program. Elliott and Shawn continue Harry's legacy through the Harry N. Stone Memorial Volunteer Lawyer Foundation. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to the Harry N. Stone Memorial Volunteer Lawyer Foundation, 3030 N. 3rd Street, Suite 200, Phoenix Arizona, 85012. Donations will be used for outreach and to pay court filing fees to help the Foundation serve needy and underrepresented clients.
