O'Connor, Helen E.
Helen Louise Eddy O'Connor, 81, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2016 in Scottsdale, AZ. Born on October 15, 1934, to Howard & Marion Eddy in Oakland, CA, Helen graduated from the Univ. of California Berkeley, when she married Barry in 1956, and retired as an Accountant with the Lafayette School District. She was a fun loving mother and homemaker while raising her family in Moraga, CA, volunteering at the schools and leading campfire girls, camping with friends at Whiskeytown Lake. Barry & Helen retired in Park City, UT, enjoying a full life of skiing, cruising, friends and travel, along with their second home in Kihei, Maui, for 20 years. Helen loved to travel, and her favorite memories included Tahiti, Asia, the Danube River Cruise, Macchu Picchu, and the Mediterranean. Helen spent her sunset years enjoying friends and life at Sun City Festival in Buckeye, AZ. She had an immense passion for genealogy research for over 25 years, and for writing her family book on her ancestors. She received joy participating in the Festival Genealogy Club, as the treasurer and especially mentoring new friends in the computer lab, in addition to water aerobics, mahjong, and barrel buddies.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband Barry Lawrence O'Connor, of 53 years. She is survived by her adoring daughters and family, Pam & Kyle Bardet, AZ; grandsons Cory and Kelly Bardet, AZ; and daughter Cindy O'Connor, of Northern CA. Helen is also remembered by her sister, Joanne & Gene Applegate, brother, Elton & Anna Eddy; and many nephews & nieces. She will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake City, UT. The family wishes to thank her care team, Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, and HOV for their tender care in her last days.
