Herbert Johannesen passed away on November 16, 2016 at the age of 96. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Ingvald Johannesen and Margaret Olsen. He served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army during World War II, based in Persia for most of his service. His career was spent working in the credit industry, most notably as Credit Manager and Treasurer of Cone Mills Marketing in their New York City office until he retired in 1979. Upon retirement, he moved to Phoenix to bask in the sunshine and continue his life's passion of playing the horses at Turf Paradise. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Nancy, sister Evelyn, sons Thomas (Nancy), William (Laura), Michael (Renee), and daughters Joanne, Tina (Nic) and Nancy (Steve). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, sister and sons-in-law Robert and Eddie. Our Herbie was a great kidder and leaves behind many colorful memories. Goodbye Dad, you enjoyed a long, wonderful life and we will all miss you and never forget you. Services will be private.
