Trueax, Iris Rosalie
passed away peacefully after a short illness on February 19, 2013, in Holland, Michigan, with her daughter at her side. She was born Iris Rosalie Hall on April 20, 1916, near Montourseville, Pennsylvania. She was one of nine children born to Thomas and Alice Hall. Robert, her beloved husband of 61 years, preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by her two children, daughter Mary L. (Michael) Leary of Zeeland, Michigan, son Robert (Martha) Trueax of Mesa, Arizona, three grandchildren, Timothy Hoover of Holland, Michigan, Abigail (Brian) Eggen of St. Paul, Minnesota, Jill E. (Christopher) Murphy of Tempe, Arizona, three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Aidan, and Sam, and one brother, Lloyd L. (Louisa) Hall of South Bend, Indiana. After growing up on her family's Pennsylvania farm, she moved to Mishawaka, Indiana, to assist her sister, Leah, with her new baby. It was there that she met and married her husband, Robert. Iris worked for many years as a secretary for the Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka, and then retired with her husband to Magician Lake, Michigan, in 1985. The couple later moved to Mesa, Arizona to enjoy the warm winters near their son, returning seasonally to visit family and friends in Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Iris enjoyed entertaining, sharing her wonderful cooking creations, and had many other interests, including painting, pottery, quilting, knitting, and board games. A memorial service will be held for Iris at the Red Mountain United Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona in May. Memorial donations may be made to the Red Mountain United Methodist Church or to a charitable organization of your choice.
