Diamond, James Lee
of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his home at the age of 75. Jim was born June 10, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He graduated from Carl Hayden High School in 1958. Jim was the epitome of a Navy Chief Petty Officer. A 21-year Navy veteran, Jim was a Hospital Corpsman and served in Japan, multiple combat deployments to Vietnam with the First Marine Division, and at a variety of duty stations in California. In his civilian career, Jim worked as an Environmental Health Specialist for Maricopa County for over 20 years. He enjoyed reading, hunting, and fishing. Jim will especially be remembered for his kind and gentle heart, great sense of humor, and his personal example of putting others before himself. His parents Carl and Muriel preceded him in death. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Fusae; his son, Jim Jr and his wife Yuko; and his grandchildren, Tai and Anna. A visitation will be held from 5p-8p on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 N 27th Ave Phoenix, AZ 85009. Funeral services will be the following day, June 10, 2016 at 11:30a also at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary.
