James Wilcoxson Obituary

James Rollin Wilcoxson, 63, born in Van Nuys, California passed away on March 20, 2006. Jim graduated from Santa Fe High school in Santa Fe, NM. He served in the New Mexico Air National Guard, and was activated during the Pueblo Crisis. Jim graduated from Denver University in Denver, CO, and worked in lighting for GE in Denver, CO and Hendersonville, NC from 1965-1981. The Wilcoxsons moved to Chandler, AZ in 1981 to start two new endeavors. Jim created Engineered Lighting Systems, his own lighting company in Tempe. He was also very instrumental in starting Christ Presbyterian Church in Chandler along with his father, Rollin, and minister, Clyde Reed. Jim went on to teach the adult Sunday School class at five different churches, and later help Clyde start Good News Presbyterian Church In Gilbert. Jim and his wife Judy (who would have been married for 39 years in May) enjoyed countless Sun Devils, Cardinals, and Diamondback games throughout the years. Later Jim's passions were camping with Judy, and spending time with his six grandchildren, Sean, Jakob, Alexana, Kyra, Jaxon, and Ryan. Jim was preceded in death by his father Rollin, and his mother Ann. He is survived by his wife Judy, his brother Greg, sons Geoff and TJ, and daughter-in-laws, Darcy and Donna. Family and friends are invited to the visitation Friday from 4-7:30 PM at Tempe Mortuary and the funeral service on Saturday at 10 is at Bethany Community Church, 6240 S. Price Rd., Tempe. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley Dobson Home, 1188 N. Dobson Rd., Chandler, AZ 85224.

Dearest Judy, Geoff and T.J., Jane Apple called yesterday with the sad news of Jim's passing. I called mom and dad and they were saddened as well.Jane was kind enough to forward the obituary to me. I love you all and will keep you in my prayers. Some of my fondest memories of high school were spent with you all and babysitting in your home. I live 5 minutes from where you lived when I babysat. I know the grandchildren are as sweet and loving as your two boys were.God bless you all--Debbie Pace Rouse

Judy, You still have friends in Hendersonville who love you. I moved here in 76 and you and Jim were here. What a surprise to have my high school friend here in NC. Who would have thought it? Love to you and the boys. Jane Porter Apple

Dear Judy, Geoff, TJ & families, You were like a family to me! I dearly love you all. When I worked at Ann's Hallmark for Ann and Rollin, you wrapped your arms around this homesick girl from Douglas. I am so sorry about the huge loss of that beautiful husband and father. I know you will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My brother John graduated with Jimmy and thought he was good people. After reading the guest book it seems that he added good things to many lives. Congratulations, and thank you to the family for love up close and personal a gift that lasts forever.

Jim was a great guy, always friendly and a smile on his face for everyone. His life was too short. It was wonderful to hear of his life's activities. I still remember him heading up to D.U. Seeing the guest book reminds me of all the wonderful times we as a group had together as students at Santa Fe High School. We need to have a 50th reunion in 2010 and salute Jim's memory! My sincerest sympathies to Jim's family.

I wish to express my sympathy to Jim's family. I knew him in high school, he was a great young man. It seems like only yesterday that we were all getting ready to go to a football game to watch "Jimmy" and my boyfriend, Steve Earnest play. Donna
