Talbott, James "Jim"
of Tempe, Arizona died peacefully on June 30, 2016 at the age of 90. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a caring grandfather. Jim was born on January 16, 1926, in Greencastle, Indiana, to Harrold and Dorothy Talbott. He served as a lieutenant in the US Air Force during WWII and Korea, and met his wife, Jean, while stationed at Williams Air Force Base. They were married in 1952 in Mesa, Arizona, and later made their home in the state. Jim earned a business degree from Indiana University, and his masters and doctorate in education from ASU. He worked for several Arizona school districts in administration before becoming Assistant Superintendent for Paradise Valley Schools. He served as President of the Arizona School Business Officials and was active in the Tempe Diplomats, Tempe Military Affairs Committee, Rotary International, and Tempe Kiwanis. Jim loved Arizona, enjoyed his friends and golfing, and cared deeply about his family. Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Jean, son Tom Talbott (Paula), daughter Susan Ford (Jeff), and four grandchildren, Keely, Ryker, Michael and Alyssa, all residing in Arizona. A memorial service, celebrating his life, will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2085 E Southern Avenue, Tempe.
